OUR MISSION STATEMENT
Tarralla Kindergarten takes it’s name from the Wurundjeri name of the creek which flows nearby. “Tarralla” means “walking quickly”. We believe children learn through play and that through play our children are “walking quickly” on their road to being life-long learners. We are committed to creating a learning environment which nurtures the total wellbeing of each child in the context of their family and community.
OUR PHILOSOPHY
We believe that children are inquisitive, natural learners who learn best through play.
We are committed to developing each child’s sense of Being, Belonging and Becoming by facilitating interesting and challenging learning experiences in a warm and caring environment. We celebrate the child as an individual, nurturing their natural curiosity and supporting them as they build enquiring minds and passionate spirits.
We believe that a combination of planned Intentional Teaching and Child Focussed , Play Based, Emergent Curriculum will provide opportunities for the child to investigate, project and explore new ideas, to follow their interests, to develop their imaginations and to celebrate their achievements under the umbrella of the National Quality Framework. Staff are committed to supporting each child as they show an interest in other children and in being part of a group, encouraging them to build relationships with adults and their peers and demonstrate an awareness of the rights, needs and cultural perspectives of others. These skills will enable the child to develop relationships with people who are similar and different to themselves.
We believe that by fostering awareness and respect for the beauty and wonder of the natural world we are laying down the foundations for caring for our earth and each other now and in the future.
At Tarralla Kindergarten we believe in a strong community focus where children and their families are involved in every aspect of kindergarten life. We believe that kindergarten is a precious time that is to be treasured as it comes only once and we look forward to taking this learning journey together.
